The industry supported over 92,000 New Mexico jobs, provided over $6 billion in wages and contributed more than $16.6 billion to the state’s economy in 2021, according to a study conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) that compiles the latest available government data.
From petroleum engineers and truck drivers to contractors and manufacturers, the natural gas and oil industry supports a wide range of jobs across the state of New Mexico.
Research shows that every direct job in the natural gas and oil industry generates an additional 1.6 jobs in New Mexico.
